Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To study the pharmacology and evaluate the clinical efficacy of amiodarone combined with metoprolol for new-onset atrial flutter .METHODS:A total of 44 patients with new-onset atrial flutter in South Hospital of Southern Medical University between Nov .2012 and Nov.2013 were randomly divided into treatment group and control group of 22 cases each .The patients in the control group were assigned to receive basic therapy for heart disease while those in the treatment group to receive add-on amiodarone plus metoprolol tartrate orally .The clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated comparatively .RESULTS:The total effective rate of the treatment group was higher than in the control group [ 82%( 18/22 ) vs.27%( 6/22 ) , P <0.05 ]; there were significant differences between the two groups in indexes of atrial flutter , the mean time of cardioversion , mean time of no-recurrence of atrial flutter, renal function and pulmonary function (P<0.05), with treatment showing better efficacy than in the control group;the length of hospital stay and the treatment cost in the treatment group were lower than in the control group and the differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05 ) .CONCLUSIONS: Treatment of patients with new-onset atrial flutter with add-on Amiodarone plus metoprolol tartrate resulted in remarkable efficacy and shorter hospital stay as compared with control group .关键词
