Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effect of estrogen replacement therapy on the postoperative quality of life of patients with loss of ovarian function after undergoing operation for cervical cancer.METHODS:216 patients with cervical cancer undergoing operation and receving adjunctive therapy in Shenzhen Municipal People's Hospital from Sept.2002 to Sept.2012 were followed up.Among the patients who were confirmed to be in menopause and of no contraindications, 135 voluntarily received sex hormone therapy and who were randomized to two groups, with 69 cases received estrogen replacement therapy percutaneously versus 66 orally.The quality of life of the patients before and after treatment, the adverse drug reactions and estrodiol level were followed.RESULTS:After treatment, the patients in both groups showed significant increase in estrodiol level, significant reduction in Kupperman score and significant improvement in the quality of life as compared with before treatment ( P<0.01) , yet the differenes between the two groups were not statistically significant ( P>0.05) .Both group showed good safety.CONCLUSIONS:Ovary function is one of the factors associated with the postoperative quality of life in patients undergoing operation for cervical cancer, and their quality of life can be improved through monitoring ovary function and using of hormone replacement therapy.关键词
