Children with Hearing Impairment Who Have Passed Hearing Screening:A Report of 7 Cases
摘要
Abstract
Objective To report 7 cases of neonates who passed hearing screening but later were found to have perma-nent hearing loss, and discusses false negative hearing screening in newborns and possible late-onset hearing loss. Methods Negative neonatal hearing screening data collected in our hospital between November 2010 and October 2013 were reviewed and 7 cases of confirmed hearing loss were identified. Patient history, clinical manifestations, audiology and imaging results were analyzed. Results Among the 7 cases of confirmed severe hearing impairment, 5 were rated as severe and 2 as pro-found with 1 diagnosed as auditory neuropathy. Conclusion The reasons for the 7 confirmed hearing loss cases that had passed neonatal hearing screening are thought to be unrecognized false negative results or possible late-onset hearing impair-ment. It is therefore important to follow up infants even though they have passed neonatal hearing screening.关键词
