Characteristic Anatomical Structures of Rat Temporal Bone

Abstract
Rat models have become an increasingly powerful tool for experimental medical studies due to its well estab⁃lished gene sequences and well-studied functional structures of internal organs. Although a large number of descriptions and atlas of the rat temporal bone have been published previously, detailed anatomy of its surface and inside structures remains to be studied. To provide accurate and detailed information on rat temporal bone anatomy and complete missing or unclear areas in existing knowledge of the rat temporal bone, the current paper focuses on some unique characteristics of rat temporal bone structures in the hope of laying a solid foundation for experimental rat temporal bone surgeries and of promoting information ex⁃change among our colleagues and providing useful guidance for beginning researchers in the field.关键词
