Abstract
Objective To investigate the correlation between serum level of 25-hydroxy vitamin D3 (25OHD3) and peripheral neuropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes .Methods A total of 114 type 2 diabetic patients were enrolled into the study.Among them, 63 patients were diagnosed as diabetic peripheral neuropathy according to clinical symp -toms, signs and electrophysiological sensory testing .The serum levels of 25OHD3 were determined and analysed . Results The frequency of vitamin D deficiency was significantly higher in neuropathic patients than in non -neuropathic patients, the frequencies were 79.4%and 41.2% (P<0.01).25OHD3 levels of neuropathic patients were significantly lower than non-neuropathic patients, the values were (40.1 ±12.7 nmol/L vs 54.4 ±18.4 nmol/L) (P<0.001).The level of 25OHD3 was associated with HbA1c and the duration of type 2 diabetes (P=0.01 and P=0.044).Conclusion Low level of 25OHD3 is a risk factor for diabetic neuropathy in type 2 diabetic patients.The level of 25OHD3 is associated with the duration of type 2 diabetes and HbA1c.关键词
