A Pragmatic Approach to the Principle of Language Economy

Abstract
Meanings are usually conveyed in the simplest language forms specifically chosen by the authors or speakers. Their choices of language are universally governed by the principle of language economy. The principle of language economy is analyzed as a mechanism, exerting binding forces on the pragmatic theories of conversational implicature, relevance theory and memetics.关键词
