Analysis of Noise Reduction Performance of a New Shape-memory Alloy Damper Attached to Recycled Concrete Frame

Abstract
The stress-strain relation of a Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) wire is measured. Based on the result of the testing and the pseudo-elastic phase transition theory, a new hinge-type SMA damper is designed and applied to a three-layer recycled concrete (RAC) frame. The time-history response of the frame model under the earthquake excitation is analyzed with ANSYS code. Results of the analysis show that the new type SMA damper is an ideal passive energy dissipation device, which can effectively reduce the displacement, velocity and acceleration responses of structures.关键词
