Analysis of Damage Modes of a Ship’s Stiffened Plate Subjected to Bubble Jet Loading Based on ALE Method

Abstract
Recent studies have shown that bubble collapse near a boundary would generate high-speed jet which could cause severe damage of ship structures. In this paper, the ALE method in LS-DYNA was adopted to simulate the damage effect of a ship’s stiffened plate structure subjected to jet impinging. Plane plate’s dynamical responses under different impinging lo-cation, velocity and configuration of the jet loading were analyzed. On this basis, damage modes of the stiffened plate impacted by the bubble jet in solid and vulnerable regions were discussed. The result shows that the bubble jet loading can cause serious damage of the structure and have obvious local effect of damage. The damage modes of ship’s structure vary with impinging lo-cation change of the bubble jet. Through the analysis of explosion and shock resistance, it can be concluded that the effect of un-derwater bubble explosion cannot be neglected.关键词
