Abstract
Objective:To assess the relationship of calcification score at siphon segment in internal carotid artery with lacunar infarction in the anterior circulation.Method:The cranial CT imaging of 271 cases of aged were reviewed at random.Calcification score at siphon segment in internal carotid artery was calculated using agatston’s method,at the same time,the probability of lacunar infarction in the anterior circulation was observed. Result:Calcification at the siphon segment in internal carotid arteries had been found in 217 cases.Lacunar infarction was found in 46 cases of 83 cases which calcification score was from 1 to 199 scores ,in 65 cases of 98 cases which calcification score was from 200 to 399 scores ,and in 33 cases of 36 cases which calcification score was from 400 to 500 scores .Lacunar infarction occurred in 11 of 54 cases without calcification.Statistical analysis showed that calcification score was significantly associated with lacunar infarction(P<0.05).Conclusion:With the growth of calcification score at the siphon segment in internal carotid arteries,the probability of lacunar infarction has increased.Though calcification is a late sign of atherosclerosis of internal carotid arteries,it may suggest the possibility of potential ischemic cerebrovascular disorders.关键词
