Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the oropharyngeal and hyoid changes associated with four premolar extractions in treatment of adult females with bimaxillary protrusion. Method:Pre-and post-treatment lateral cephalometric radiographs of 20 adult female patients with bimaxillary protrusion were used, requiring premolar extractions as a part of their orthodontic treatment. Changes in the incisors,the oropharyngeal and hyoid measurements during treatment were calculated and analysed with the paired t-test in SPSS 11.0. and the correlation between these changes were detected. Result:U Ⅰ,L Ⅰ,PAS,H-MP showed statistically significant changes during the treatment(P≤0.01). The changes between incisor and the PAS,H-MP had significant correlation (P≤0.05). Conclusion:Following retraction of incisors,the hypopharyngeal airway became narrower and the hyoid bone tends to move in a downward position in treatment of adult females with bimaxillary protrusion.关键词
