Abstract
Objective:To investigate the prognostic significance of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR) in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC) who received radiotherapy.Method:The clinical data of 149 patients with ESCC in Department of Radiotherapy of the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical College from May 2008 to November 2011 were analyzed retrospectively.Based on this cut-off value of 3.0,all the patients were divided into the two groups:32 cases with NLR ≥ 3.0 were regarded as the high NLR group,117 cases with NLR<3.0 were regarded as the low NLR group.The short-term efficacy of radiotherapy and 3-year survival rate between the two groups were observed and compared.Result:The objective response rate(RR) of the high NLR group was 34.4%(11/32),which was significantly lower than 58.1%(68/117) of the low NLR group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The 3-year survival rate in the high NLR group was 18.8%(6/32),which was significantly lower than 37.6%(44/117) of the low NLR group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The results show that NLR≥3.0 may be a prognostic marker in patients with ESCC.关键词
