摘要

Abstract

Teaching material text has a strong sociality. It is an important guide for students to know the society. The description of career orientation in Vocational College English ought to mark the professional status of Chinese society. The study of career orientation in An Integrated Skills Course (Book 1 to Book 4) indicates that the description of career orientation in the teaching material texts of the books actually does not accord with the social professional status in China. The problem is caused by many factors. It may lead vocational students into misunderstanding of the occupational status quo of Chinese society and prevent them from developing a correct view on career. Vocational colleges, vocational English teachers and students, teaching material editors and publishers should take corresponding measures to eliminate the negative effects caused by the problem.
