On the Development into the University of Applied Science：Challenges, Opportunities and Countermeasures

Abstract
Guiding some local undergraduate universities to transform and develop into the universities of applied science is an important policy made by the state. Firstly, this paper analyzes the impacts and challenges of the issues on the transformational development, including the position of the university of applied science in the modern occupational education, the lost social status of the engineers, the need-supply match and the contradictions in the transformation period. Secondly, it discusses the opportunities and conditions provided by such facts as the better service to social-economic development, the tilt policy of the granting professional degree education right to the universities of applied science and the successful experience of the university of applied science in the developed countries and regions. Lastly, it puts forward the strategies and suggestions, for example, regarding the development of teachers as the first position of the university development, seeking the substantive participation of the government and market, choosing some specialties for the pilot program and to preferentially running a college of international cooperation as the path breakthrough.关键词
