摘要

Abstract

Recent progress in industrialization of coal to ethylene glycol was outlined, and the diversified development direction of feedstocks and products for ethylene glycol production was discussed. Using indusrial vent gas and import methanol as feedstocks could reduce the costs of investment and product and the operational risk. Combination production of oxalic acid, methyl glycolate, glycolic acid, ethanol and/or oxamide in the coal-based ethylene glycol plants using the dimethyl oxalate hydrogenation technology offered a new way to product diversification, by which the market risk from overcapacity of ethylene glycol could be reduced effectively. Reasonable use of coal to ethylene glycol by-products could reduce the waste of resources and improve the economic effect. The diversified development could make better use of existing equipment, increase the variety of products and enhance the market risk tolerance capability.
