摘要

Abstract

The present study was aimed to investigate effects of melatonin on growth, and lipometabolism and partition of fat in rat. Fifty SD rats with similar age and body weight were randomly divided into 5 groups ( 10 rats per group) , which were normal diet ( ND) , normal diet with melatonin ( ND+MT) , fat supplementation ( FS) , fat supplementation with low dose melatonin ( FS+LMT) and fat supplementation with high dose me-latonin ( FS+HMT) group. FS group was refer to adding 10% lard into normal diet. Except of special diets, rats in ND+MT, FS+LMT and FS+HMT groups were administrated orally with 10, 2, 20 mg/kg BW of me-latonin solution every day, respectively. The experiment lasted for 60 days. The result showed as follows:compared with ND group, the contents of hepatic long chain fatty acids ( LCFA) , total cholesterol, and aver-age daily gain, average daily feed intake, liver weight, omentum majus fat weight, perirenal fat weight and epididymis fat weight in ND+MT group were decreased significantly ( P<0.05) . Compared with FS group, av-erage daily gain, average daily feed intake, content of hepatic LCFA, omentum majus fat weight and epididy-mis fat weight in FS+LMT group were significantly decreased (P<0.05), while liver index was significantly increased ( P<0.05) . Compared with FS group, omentum majus fat weight and epididymis fat weight in FS+HMT group were significantly decreased (P<0.05). Compared with ND group, perirenal fat weight in FS group was significantly decreased (P<0.05), and epididymis fat weight in FS group was significantly in-creased ( P<0.05) . In conclusion, melatonin has a dose-related effect that can reduce the growth rate of rats, decrease the fat content in the liver, and change the distribution of body fat.
