Status of and Demand for Service Ability Training on the Health Workers of Community Health Service Centers in Guangdong Province

Abstract
Objective To investigate the status of and demand for service ability training on the health workers of community health service centers in Guangdong Province. Methods We selected 275 health workers from 36 community health centers that were registered with the pilot project of family doctor services. Self-designed questionnaire survey was conducted on the subjects,and the content of the survey included general demographic characteristics,the self-appraisal of service ability, training participation,training effect evaluation and training demands. Since 24 subjects didn't return their questionnaires,251 subjects were included in the study in the end. The status of and demand for service ability training were analyzed and compared among health workers of different categories,and the influencing factors for the willingness to participate in training were also investigated. Results (1) In the self-appraisal of service ability,the scores of manners as health workers and the mastery of community health service concepts were(6. 8 ± 1. 9)and(6. 8 ± 1. 8),and the score of the knowledge of the latest general practice progress abroad was(4. 9 ±2. 4). (2)Of the 251 health workers,57. 0%(143/251)had participated in service ability training,95. 6%( 240/251 )thought it necessary to participate in training. Health workers of different categories were significantly different in the number of training times ( P <0. 05 ) and were not significantly different ( P <0. 05 ) in the awareness of the necessity of training,the purpose of future training and the reason for future training. ( 3 ) Of the 143 health workers who had participated in training,92. 3%(132/143)were satisfied with the general effect of training. Health workers of different categories were significantly different in the mastery of the theoretical knowledge of general practice ( P <0. 05 )and were not significantly different(P >0. 05)in general effect,the concept and ability of general practice team service,the concept of community health service,household-based service ability,textbook,teaching methodology,teaching environment and course content. (4) Of the 18 items of self-appraisal,the training wiliness rate reached 50% for 16 items. Health workers of different categories were not significantly different ( P > 0. 05 ) in the training willingness rate of each item. ( 5 ) The univariate analysis showed that health workers with training willingness for different items were significantly different(P<0. 05) in average age,the previous training,the awareness of the necessity of training and the reason for future training;the non-conditional logistic regression analysis showed that age and the reason for future training had significant influence on training willingness(P<0. 05). Conclusion The health workers of community health service centers in Guangdong Province have poor service ability,while their training status is good and the training willingness is at a high level. Age and the reason for future training are influencing factors for training willingness.关键词
