Abstract
Objective To understand the disease spectrum and changing trends of mortality rate of hospitalized cases in pediatrics department in Shenmu County Hospital, so as to provide scientific basis for the future medical care and prevention of childhood diseases. Methods A retrospective statistical analysis was conducted on the hospitalization records of cases discharged from Shenmu County Hospital from January 1st, 1998 to December 31st, 2012.Results From 1998 to 2012 in Shenmu County Hospital 23 448 children aged 14 years or under 14 were hospitalized, among whom 17 173 were males, accounting for 73.2%.Majority of the patients were less than 3 years old, occupying 78.8%(including 57.2%of children aged 12 months to 1 year old).The average hospitalization stay was 6.8 days, with a median stay of 6 days.Respiratory system disease was the leading disease in each year.Other major illnesses causing hospitalization included infectious diseases, digestive tract diseases, neonatal diseases and nervous system diseases.A total of 144 children died during this period, and the mortality rate showed a declining trend (χ2 =13.46,P<0.01).The top three causes of death in sick children were neonatal asphyxia, premature birth and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome.Conclusion During these 15 years, the pediatric inpatient disease spectrum changes, which should attract high concentration from pediatric clinicians.关键词
