Abstract
Objective To investigate the common complications of very low birth weight infant ( VLBWI) and extremely low birth weight infant ( ELBWI) and related factors influencing prognosis, so as to provide reference for improving the level of treating very preterm infants. Methods From January 1 to December 31 in 2014, totally 117 VLBWIs and ELBWIs treated in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of Northwest Women and Children' s Hospital were divided into good prognosis group and poor prognosis group according to prognosis. All these clinical data were collected and analyzed. Results Eighty-nine cases ( 76.1%) were cured or improved ( good prognosis) and 28 cases (23.9%) gave up or died (poor diagnosis) among 117 infants. The top six complications of VLBWI and ELBWI were respiratory distress syndrome (53.0%), anemia in premature infants (50.4%), intracranial hemorrhage (45.3%), sepsis (early on-set and late on-set) (36.8%), jaundice (34.2%), and apnea (27.4%).Compared with poor prognosis group, gestational age was older (t=3.56, P<0.05) and birth weight was heavier in good prognosis group (t=5.30, P<0.05).The incidence of intrapartum asphyxia, gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, pulmonary hemorrhage, congenital malformations, and mechanical ventilation rate was low (χ2 value was 4.92, 10.73, 11.36, 5.13, 8.79 and 6.78, respectively, all P<0.05).Conclusion VLBWI and ELBWI are easily to suffer complications.Serious complications and illness during pregnancy easily lead to death in neonatal period and affect family' s confidence for treatment, resulting in poor prognosis. Therefore, perinatal care and cognition on its complications should be strengthened, and timely and effective treatment need to be provided to reduce the mortality of sick infants.关键词
