Abstract
Zhang Ailing’ s posthumous work Small Family Reunion has been highly controversial since its publication in 2009.Laudators say it is the peak concentrated in Zhang Ailing’s life-long efforts, while criticizers say it is cumbersome and lack of artistic appeal.Through the study of the text, it founds that Small Family Reunion is Zhang Ailing’ s subversion; it subverts the national affection in the mainstream society, the traditional sense of family, friendship and love, and Zhang Ailing’ s pride. Through the description of protagonist, Sheng Jiuli ’ s living environment, the blocked study, especially the experiences of teachers and students of the Victoria University in Hong Kong battle, Zhang Ailing expresses her unfortunate experience that the country is defeated and the home lost; through the description of Sheng Jiuli’ s lack of family love, betrayal love, alienated friendship, Zhang Ailing expresses her lack of love.In a sense, protagonist Sheng Jiuli ’ s declining family history, the vicissitudes of her growth and miserable history of soul expose Zhang Ailing’ s deficiency in her lot, family, childhood, family bond, school, love, friendship, remarrying, son and heir and so on.These encounters or experiences cause Zhang Ailing lives in missing, sadness, and sufferings all her life.“Small reunion” and“big reunion” are antonym;here small reunion is not a little reunion, but not reunion at all.Zhang looks back the past, faces her directly.“I can stay to recall, just at that time already frustrated” is a true portrayal of Zhang’ s mind in her old age, she just deduce a sad melody with her lifelong persistence.关键词
