Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To investigate off-label drug use in outpatient department in People's Hospital of Sichuan province( hereinafter referred to as "our hospital") , and to provide reference for the rational clinical of drug use. METHODS:1 292 prescriptions from Jan. to Jun. 2014 for off-label drug use were collected, which were found out during the verification by dispensing pharmacists in outpatient department. The relevant information of prescriptions such as patients' gender and age, the visit departments, clinical diagnosis, name of drug, specification of drug, dosage of drug, dosing frequency and route of administration were statistically analyzed. Based on the drug specification, the analysis of different categories toward off-label drug use was conducted. RESULTS:There were 1 292 prescriptions of off-label drug use, accounting for 0. 22% of all prescriptions from Jan. to Jun. 2014, in which off-label drug use in dosing frequency(45. 28%), drug dosage(38. 39%), administration route(15. 63%) occupied the top three of the off-label drug use problems. Also, the specialist outpatient(25. 16%), the internal medicine department(24. 92%) and surgery department ( 12. 93%) occupied the top three of all the prescription departments. There were 128 prescriptions had evidence based medicine foundation, only accounting for 9. 90%, and most off-label drug use prescriptions cannot provide the relevant drug use evidence. CONCLUSIONS:The conditions of off-label drug use are complicated. In order to guarantee the medication safety of the patients and legitimate rights and interests of the doctors, the government should deliver the relevant laws and regulations as soon as possible, and the hospital should formulate and constantly improve the corresponding management system and process so as to regulate the clinical application of off-label drug use.关键词
