Abstract
Objective To investigate peripheral white blood cell (WBC) count and its related influencing factors among patients with type 2 dibetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods Random cluster sampling was adopted to conduct a survey among 2270 residents aged from 40 to 70 years in Chengqiao Town,Chongming County.The items of questionnaire included physical examination ,75g oral glucose tolerance test ,and biochemical examination including routine blood test and serum lipid.Results Among 2270 residents,655 with T2DM and 1615 without diabetes mellitus.The result of univariate analysis showed that blood pressure,body mass index(BMI),WBC,neutrophil(NEUT),total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol ( LDL-C) in T2DM residents were higher than those in the residents without diahetes mellitus(P<0.05),while high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in T2DM residents was significantly lower than that in the residents without diahetes mellitus ( P<0 .001 ) .The result of multiple regression analysis showed that WBC,BMI,2-hour plasma glucose(2hPG),TG,TC and NEUT were risk factors for T2DM.Conclusion Patients with T2DM might suffer from chronic inflammation ,and inflammatory reaction plays an important role in the occurrence and development of diabetes .关键词
