《墨子虚词用法诠释》“而”字词性归类商榷
A Discussion on the Word Classification of“Er (而)” in Annotations of Functional Words’ Usages in Mozi
摘要
Abstract
According to Annotations of Functional Words’ Usages in Mozi by XIE De-san,“er (而)” can be used as a refer-ential word like “ci (此)”, a copula like “nai (乃)”, a quasi like “ru (如)” and as an adverb like “nai (乃)” and “cai (才)”.“Er (而)” is also categorized as a preposition and a conjunction .The grammatical function of the word is to connect the two predicate structures, hence a conjunction.The book ignores the grammatical function, and its categorization of “er (而)” is worth discussion.Most of the related structures in Mozi are not fixed, and“erhou (而后)”,“erkuang (而况)”,“eryi (而已)”and “eryiyi (而已矣)” are word combinations.It is questionable to categorize them as idioms.关键词
