摘要

Abstract

Autonomous learning ability is the key to successful English learning and life-long learning.The learning autonomy of college students mainly lies in three aspects such as motivation, learning strategies and metacognitive strategies.This research investigates the autonomous learning ability of college freshmen.The results indicate that freshmen have basic awareness of autonomous learning, but with a low level on the whole;Students can use the basic metacognitive strategies, but with different levels;Students’ instrumental mo-tivation results in the significant differences between inside class behavior and outside class behavior, with inadequate planning and dedication outside of class.Thus, to improve learning autonomy, college English teaching needs to carry out corresponding instructions for students.
