摘要

Abstract

The philosophical meaningfulness of meaning and image for painting-and-poetry complementarity in Tang and Song Dynasties is that those categories centering on meaning and image shed light on the painting-and-poetry complemen-tarity by the methodology.On the one hand,with the two-dimensional framework of meaning and image,meaning experi-entially directs people’s thoughts of creation to poetry,and image to painting.On the other hand,people are not con-fined to the habitual experience of utilizing image to interpret meaning,and they get to realize the prescriptive effect of meaning on image.Therefore,methodologically,people experientially convert the abstract existence of meaning into spe-cific art existence of poetry,and they convert image into painting.Meanwhile,the combination of meaning and image is experientially converted into the painting-and-poetry complementarity.
