Reinforcement design method of RC box girder subjected to combined torsion

Abstract
Reinforcement design of reinforced concrete (RC)box girders subjected to combined ac-tion of bending,shear and torsion is carried out.The given design loads of bending,torsion and shear are taken as known parameters,and the areas of longitudinal tensile reinforcement in the bot-tom plate and stirrup in webs are regarded as unknown parameters.By introducing the equilibrium equations,compatibility equations and constitutive relations of the web in which the shear force and torque are superimposed,the required reinforcement areas are obtained by using the iterative meth-od.Four models of RC continuous box girders subjected to combined torsion are designed.Models L1 and L3 are designed based on the proposed method,while models L2 and L4 are obtained through increasing the areas of longitudinal tensile reinforcement in the bottom plate and stirrup in webs,respectively.The experimental results show that the crack patterns,failure modes and rein-forcement yield state of models L1 and L3 are in good agreement with those in the design ideas, while models L2 and L4 exhibit partial over-reinforced failure in different degrees.关键词
