Influence of Grading Ring Installation Position on Ice Accretion and Flashover Characteristics of 220 kV Composite Insulators
摘要
Abstract
The artificial ice-coating tests of energized 220 kV composite insulator with grading rings installed in different positions are performed in artificial climate chamber, and the influence of different installation positions of grading ring on ice accretion and flashover characteristics of 220 kV composite insulators is studied. Study results show that the distribution of electric field of 220 kV composite insulator itself is extremely uneven and it makes the effects of improving electric field distribution by different installation positions of grading ring are not the same, thus it obviously affects ice accretion on composite insulator. The grading ring installed at high voltage end of composite insulator makes the ice-coating on the sheds at the high voltage end relatively uniform and the icicles longer, and the icicles on grading ring grow outwards and crookedly, thus the icing flashover voltage is increased;the grading ring installed at grounded end of composite insulator makes adjacent icicles on the sheds at the grounded end spliced together and the icicles on the grading ring basically grow vertically, thus the icing flashover voltage is decreased; the density of ice accretion on both surfaces of composite insulator and grading ring is higher than ice density of icicles, and at the high voltage end or grounded end where the grading rings are installed the density of ice accretion on the surface of composite insulator and the density of icicles are higher than the condition without grading ring installed; as for the two conditions that the grading ring is only installed at high voltage end of composite insulator or at the grounded end of composite insulator, the weight of ice accretion on composite insulator itself under the former condition is heavier than that under the latter condition.关键词
