Condition-Based Assessment Model of MV Vacuum Circuit Breaker With Radar Chart Method

Abstract
The overall online healthy assessment is the best strategy for the balance between the economy and the reliability of power equipment, this paper focuses on the online healthy condition-based assessment model of the medium voltage (MV) vacuum circuit breakers (VCB). Various performance indices are firstly proposed to assess the VCB’s condition by analyzing the fault characteristics of its main components. Then, the perfection degree is defined to make the sampling data normalized. Based on indices coupling relationships, the weights are determined with analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The entropy is employed to quantify the nonequilibrium impairment of all indices. Finally, an improved radar chart method with eigenvalue calculating algorithm is applied to the VCB’s condition assessment. In the method, the reference samples considering the impairment speed in thresholds design, especially the nonequilibrium entropy are incorporated to ensure VCB’s safety early warning adequately and timely. The test results on monitoring 10 kV VCB show that the model is concise, intuitive and feasible.关键词
