Abstract

To research the faults, which is capable of self-healing, occurred in smart distribution network containing microgrid and the characteristics of switching overvoltage during the fault self-healing process, based on the automatic network reconfiguration scheme after the short-circuit fault occurred in smart distribution network a microgrid unit model containing typical microsources and a distribution network system model containing microgrid unit are constructed on the platform of PSCAD/EMTDC to simulate the features of overvoltages throughout the system at the occurrence moments of five common short-circuit faults and during the post-fault self-healing process. Simulation results show that the maximum overvoltage reaches about 3.40 per-unit value and endangers the insulation, so that the protection devices are needed;as for most common single-phase earth fault occurred in distribution network, when the fault occurred at different monitoring positions the maximum overvoltage is approximately within the range from 2.3 to 2.7 per-unit value, which is available for reference to the insulation coordination of actual smart distribution network containing microgrid.
