Abstract
Objective To analyze the current status of unintentional injury death in children under 5 years old and explore their characteristics, so as to provide scientific evidence for formulating measures to prevent and control unintentional injury death.Methods The data was obtained from annual statement of maternal and child health and death card of children under the age of five in the whole region by the method of complete investigation.ICD-10 was used to classify the death causes.Data was analyzed by SPSS 17.0.Results The unintentional injury mortality was 26.90/100 000, 33.40/100 000 and 33.40/100 000, respectively in baby, children aged 1-4 years old and children under the age of five in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and the proportion in overall death was 3.56%, 31.87% and 7.01%, respectively.There were more boys than girls suffering unintentional injury death among children under 5 years, but the difference was not significant (χ2 =0.17, P >0.05).Unintentional injury death was more in rural children than in urban children, and the difference was significant (χ2 =8.29, P<0.05).Causes of death and cis position were different among children of different age.The main causes were accidental suffocation ( 63.07%) , falling ( 7.10%) and traffic accident ( 7.10%) for babies, traffic accidents (35.93%), accidental suffocation (15.56%) and drowning (14.65%) for children aged 1-4, and accidental suffocation (36.76%), traffic accidents (23.07%) and drowning (8.62%) for children under 5 years old.Conclusion The key measure to prevent and control the unintentional injury death among children under 5 is to reduce infant’s accidental asphyxia and traffic accidents in children aged 1-4, and to strengthen the safety education for parents and children in rural areas.关键词
