Digital Modeling Combined with 3D Printing Technique in Application of Auricle Reconstruction

Abstract
Objective To investigate the application value of digital modeling combined with 3-dimensional (3D) printing technology in auricle reconstruction. Methods A total of 10 patients with congenital microtia, who would undergo the operation of auricle reconstruction, were recruited in this study. The models of ipsilateral costal cartilages, contralateral ear cartilages and health mirror auricle were printed before the operation, and then the models were used to make individual auricle braces during the operation. The shapes of the reconstructed auricles were observed after the oper-ation. Results The shape of reconstructed auricles were highly similar to those of healthy auricles, and the patients were very satisfied. Conclusion The digital modeling combined with 3D printing technology in application of auricle recon-struction for patients with congenital microtia is feasible with good effect.关键词
