摘要

Abstract

For the widely employed wind turbines with doubly fed induction generator (DFIG), their fault behaviors are different from the ones of the traditional synchronous generators. The fault characteristics are not only related to the transient responses of DFIG, but to the control and protection schemes of the interfaced converters. However, the existing fault analyses are based on some ideal assumptions, and they are not enough to completely reveal the impacts of large-scale wind power penetration on the fault characteristics of the power grid. In this paper, the detailed wind turbine with DFIG model is firstly outlined including the typical integration and low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) control scheme. And then the short-circuit current expressions of DFIG with LVRT capability are derived at different time segment of a fault. Moreover, from the perspectives of quantitative analysis the transient fault response of the wind turbine with DFIG is clarified during the entire period from the occurrence of the faults to its clearance. The results are available for evaluating the adaptation of the existing protection schemes and developing the new protection principles.
