Abstract

Affected by changing outflow, the flow delay between cascade hydropower stations is a dynamic parameter in short term cascade hydropower optimal scheduling. The constant flow delay will lead to errors in optimal results. Given the function between flow delay and outflow, a short term cascade hydropower optimal scheduling model considering dynamic flow delay is presented. However, through considering dynamic flow delay, variables can be optimized in both quantity and time dimension, which makes the short term cascade hydropower optimal scheduling hard to be solved directly by ordinary algorithm. A hybrid approach is proposed to tackle this difficulty, in which the iterative method actuates an iterative procedure to approximate the real flow delay and the mixed-integer linear programming is adopted to solve ordinary short term cascade hydropower optimal scheduling problem. The efficiency of the proposed method is demonstrated using a test system and a real system which contains eight reservoirs.
