The Influence of Personal Factors and Class Factors on Middle School Students'Learning Engagement

摘要

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the influence of personal factors and class factors on middle school students'learning engagement .Methods:Sample data was collected from 780 middle school students in Shenzhen via questionnaires of the middle school students'learning engagement and the class psychological environment .Statistical analysis was then conducted on the sample data using the SPSS 17 .0 Results:①There was no significant difference between genders according to analysis of the three di-mensions.There was a significant difference between genders in related to persistence factor according to analysis of the seven factors .Male student were more likely to be persistent than female student ( t =2.662,P<0.01).②There was a significant difference among grade levels according to analysis of the three dimensions(F=16.061,12.256,9.069;P <0.001).Learning engagement gradually decreased from the first grade of junior middle school to the second grade of senior high school .③There were highly significantly negative correlations between learning engagement and both learning weariness and internet addiction(r=-0.492,-0.340;P<0.001).④There was a highly significant correlation between the three dimensions and class psychological environment ( r =0.576,0.660,0.666;P <0.001).Conclusion:There are significantly negative correlations between learning engagement and both learning weariness and internet addiction;A better class psychological environment will help to improve learning engagement .
