Abstract
Objective:To investigate the relationship between the big five factors personality and meaning in life in college students and explore the mediating effect of psychological capital on the devel -opment of meaning in life .Methods:A total of 283 college students were investigated with five -factor personality(NEO-PI-R),the Positive Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PPQ)and The Meaning in Life Questionnaire(MLQ).Results:①There was no difference in the development of big five personality . Seeking for life meaning of college students had a significant gender difference ( t=0 .35 ,P<0 .05 ) .Both the meaning in life(F=2.771,P<0.05)and the presence of meaning in grade (F=4.01,P<0.01) showed a significant difference .②Multiple regression analysis indicated that conscientiousness (β=0.331,P<0.001),openness(β=0.156,P<0.01)and extraversion (β=0.131,P<0.01)had signifi-cant positive influence on life meaning,while neuroticism(β=-0.271,P<0.01)had negative influence on life meaning .The psychological capital of undergraduates had significant positive influence on the vari -ous dimensions of life meaning .③There was indirect effect in qualities psychological capital through the big five-factor personality and meaning of life sense .The percentage of mediation effect in total effect was 0.133.The mediation effect explained 37.78% of the variance in the dependent variable .Conclu-sion:Psychological capital can partially mediate the relationship between the big five personality and meaning in life of college students .关键词
