Abstract
Objective To investigate the knowledge, attitude and behavior of orthopedic nurse specialists in Guangdong Province and to provide more targeted measures for promotion of evidence-based nursing practice. Methods Sixty-one orthopedic nurse specialists in Guangdong Province who obtained their diploma of specialist care training in Hong Kong were surveyed using the Chinese version of Evidence-based Practice Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and comparisons were made by analysis of variance and t test. Results The total score of knowledge, attitude and behavior of the evidence-based practice of the orthopedic nurse specialists was 119.46±24.31 and the scores of knowledge, attitude, behavior were 63.95±14.51, 26.16±4.56, 28.66±7.57, respectively. No significant differences were noted in terms of degree and professional title, however, the score of knowledge of orthopedic nurse specialists in executive position or working more than 10 years were higher (P<0.05), the score of attitude of orthopedic nurse specialists who got the training earlier were lower (P<0.01). Conclusion Orthopedic nurse specialists have good knowledge, attitude and behavior of evidence-based practice, but their knowledge and behavior in evidence-based practice need to be improved. Managers should support orthopedic nurse specialists to implement evidence-based practice, while orthopedic nurse specialists should actively participate in related training to enhance their knowledge and skill of evidence-based practice.关键词
