Relationship between Perception of Job Characteristics and Job Satisfaction of Pediatric Nurses

Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between pediatric nurses’ job satisfaction and their perception of job characteristics and to provide a reliable objective evidence for pediatric nursing job design. Methods Pediatric nurses from a children’s hospital of Guangzhou were included. The Job Diagnostic Survey (JDS) and Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire Short-Form (MSQ20) were used to measure pediatric nurses’ perspectives for job characteristics and their job satisfaction. Results Positive correlation were detected between pediatric nurses’ job characteristics perception and job satisfaction. Inner satisfaction was mainly affected by job autonomy, feedback from others and task identity but extrinsic satisfaction and general satisfaction were mainly affected by feedback from others and work autonomy (P<0.01). Conclusion Pediatric nursing job characteristics perception of nurses and their job satisfaction are significantly positive correlated. Work autonomy and feedback from others are the main factors of affecting the job satisfaction of pediatric nurses.关键词
