The Basic Ideas of Strengthening Urban Design under the Background of New-type Urbanization

Abstract
abstract In the period of rapid urbanization in China, there existed phenomena such as construction chaos, the convergence of cityscape, the loss of urban characteristics, and others. This paper analyzes the absence of space management in urban construction, and proposes that strengthening urban design is the inevitable requirement of new-type urbanization. Then this paper analyzes the realistic predicaments of urban design such as its divergent understanding, its uncertain positioning, its incomplete system and the immature control mechanisms. Lastly, it puts forward the basic ideas and key contents for strengthening urban design from four aspects:(1)Clarifying the positioning of urban design. European and American experiences are lessons for China to establish the design control system;(2)Introducing related regime of urban design , and standardizing the preparation and management of urban design;(3)Establishing control mechanisms of urban design to connect with urban planning management and to promote the effectiveness of urban design;(4)Strengthening urban design education to cultivate design professionals.关键词
