摘要

Abstract

Applying biochar to soil can not only increase soil organic carbon, promote plant nutrient uptake and enhance crop yield, but also alleviate soil pollution. Much attention focuses on biochar recently as a new soil amendment for its potential beneficial effects to environment and ecosystem. In the article, the properties of biochar and the effects to environment and ecosystem were briefly introduced, the improvement of the physical and chemical properties and soil fertility, the growth yields of crops, as well as the environmental remediation were reviewed. The mechanism of remediation of heavy metal pollution by biochar was analyzed. In addition, possible hotspots of future study on biocha were put forward, so as to provide references for biochar use in large-scale agriculture.
