摘要

Abstract

In this paper, we conduct a comprehensive review, comparison, and analysis of how the St. Louis Police Department and the Boston Police Department use the social media for emergency response and crisis management during the Ferguson and Boston Bombing e-vents. We perform both qualitative and quantitative analysis of their original social media content posted during these two events and the past two years. We study the successful experience obtained, valuable lesson learned, and efficient measures established by these two po-lice departments in using social media for effective communication and interactions with citizens during emergency events. This will pro-vide useful reference for law enforcement and crisis management by Chinese police departments in the age of social media.
