Expression of PGAM1 in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer and its correlation with prognosis

Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of phosphoglycerate mutase 1 ( PGAM1 ) in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer ( NSCLC) and its correlation with the prognosis.Methods We measured PGAM1 mRNA expression level in the tumor tissues of 206 cases of NSCLC patients by real-time PCR, of which 28 patients were detected the PGAM1 mRNA expression in the matched adjacent normal tissues.We defined the expression of PGAM1 mRNA>1.96 as the high expression group, PGAM1 mRNA≤1.96 as the low expression group, the correlations of PGAM1 mRNA expression in NSCLC tumor tissues with clinicopathologic characeristics were analyzed.Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to evaluate the overall survival ( OS) and disease-free survival ( DFS) of PGAM1 mRNA in the high expression group and low expression group.And the Cox regression models were used to analyze the risk factors influencing the patients′OS and DFS.Results The PGAM1 mRNA expression was significantly higher in 28 cases of NSCLC tumor tissues than their matched normal tissues (P<0.05).The PGAM1 mRNA expression was related with smoking, histological type and advanced T stage (all P<0.05).Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed the median time of OS and DFS in PGAM1 mRNA high expression group was lower than that of PGAM1 mRNA low expression group (all P<0.01).Cox regression analysis indicated that PGAM1 mRNA was an independent risk factor for OS (HR=1.730, P<0.05) and DFS (HR=1.698, P<0.05).Conclusion The expression of PGAM1 mRNA in NSCLC tissues was increased, and its high expression indicates their poor prognosis.关键词
