Abstract
Objective To investigate the effectiveness of the tinnitus retraining therapy ( TRT) for tinnitus.Methods A to-tal of 67 subjects with tinnitus were enrolled in the study.The subjects were divided into 2 groups randomly, one group received TRT (n=34), and the other group was as control group (n=33).The Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) was used to assess the degree of tinnitus.THI was administered at the beginning of the TRT and 12 months after TRT, respectively.Results For the control group, there was no significant differences in THI scores between the initial and the second THI assessment.For the TRT group, the THI scores after 12 months of TRT was significantly lower than the baseline scores(P<0.0001).The significant improvements were found in the functional, emotional and catastrophic THI scores after TRT.Conclusions Based on the assessment results, TRT is an effec-tive method to treat tinnitus.关键词
