Abstract

  In order to identify the suitable sowing date and the key meteorological influencing factors, with the main cultivars of sweet sorghum as the test materials in Manas Region in Xinjiang, the sugar content and meteorological factors were measured to study the change of sugar content and its relationship with meteorological factors among different sowing dates of sweet sorghum. The results showed as follows. The total sugar and sucrose sugar increased gradually at the delay of the growth stage, and reached the peak at mature stage. The reducing sugar expressed in a single peak curve with the peak at flowering stage, and they decreased gradually after filling stage of sweet sorghum. There were significant differences of sugar content among different sowing dates (P<0.05). Xingaoliang No.3 and Zaoshu T601 were the main cultivars of sweet sorghum in Manas Region of Xinjiang. The results also indicated that, it should be sowed proper early for Xingaoliang No.3, and the sowing date of April 25th was suitable,while it should be sowed proper lately for Zaoshu T601, and the sowing date of May 8th was suitable. The sugar contents were significantly correlated with the average of air temperature, participation, sunshine duration and wind speed. The sugar content could be forecasted according to the change of temperature, participation and sunshine duration.
