Relationship Between Severe Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease and Cellular Immune Function

Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between the cellular immune function levels of children with hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) and the severity of children's disease. Methods 312 cases of children with HFMD in our hospital from January 2014 to January 2015 were selected as research objects, and divided into mild group (n=134) and severe group (n=178) according to the severity of disease. 150 healthy children at the same period were selected as control group. The percentage of T cell subsets was detected by flow cytometry. Results The levels of CD3, CD4 and CD8 of the severe group were significantly lower than those of the mild group and the control group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The levels of CD3, CD4 and CD8 of the mild group were significantly lower than those of the control group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The CD4/CD8 of the mild group and severe group were significantly lower than that of the control group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). NK cell and B lymphocytes were 0.14 ± 0.06 and 0.15 ± 0.07 of the mild group respectively, 0.15 ± 0.07 and 0.17 ± 0.08 of the severe group respectively, and 0.13 ± 0.06 and 0.15 ± 0.06 of the control group respectively;No statistical difference was found among three groups in NK cells and B lymphocytes (P >0.05). Conclusions The infection of enterovirus 71 (EV71) may lead to HFMD children's lower cellular immune function, which may probably cause the severity of HFMD. It may have a positive impact on early intervention and treatment of severe hand-foot-mouth disease to learn about changes in children's cellular immune function timely.关键词
