Abstract
Objective To evaluate the ef ectiveness of the clinical pathway in several general surgery. Methods The pre pathway (Pre) group consisted of 576 patients. The post pathway (Post) group includes 546 patients. The impact of the clinical pathway on hospital length of stay (LOS), hospital costs and patient outcomes was investigated. Results The approach explicitly enhances the development and implementation of clinical pathways. There is a statistics meaning of the dif erence (P<0.05) of two groups in the drug costs especial y the antibiotic costs of pre pathway group and post pathway group, and in the comparision between the length of hospital stay and the length of stay before operation, with both P<0.05. Conclusion Depending on design and set ing, the introduction of clinical pathways may be a very promising method to improve the inpatient service at a hospital and so to react to the chal enges of increasing competition in medical care.关键词
