Abstract
Objective To investigate the ef ect of bisphosphonates as an adjuvants treating giant cel of tumor (GCT) by Meta-analysis,in order to assess the ef ect of bisphosphonates in the surgical therapy of GCT. Methods We searched al studies published worldwide regard to the ef ectiveness of bisphosphonates assisted surgical therapy and surgical therapy only.We strictly evaluated al studies according requirement of Meta-analysis and analyzed the studies by Review Manager 5.3 .We calculated the Odds ratio(OR) for the recur ence rate during the fol ow-up period between patients who received bisphosphonates assisted surgical therapy and those who received surgical therapy only.We then evaluated the ef ectiveness of bisphosphonates assisted surgical therapy and surgical therapy only on the basis of recur ence rate in patients with GCTs.Results Four studies including 223 cases were analyzed.There were 104 cases in the bisphosphonates assisted surgical therapy group, of which 9 had local recur ence.There were 119 cases in the surgical therapy only group,of which 40 had local recurrence.The pooled OR of recur ence was 0.20 (95%confidence interval [CI],0.09~0.44).The overal OR of recur ence decreased to 0.8 in patients treated with bisphosphonates assisted surgical therapy compared those treats with surgical therapy only.Conclusion The dif erence in the ef ectiveness of the 2 GCT treatments was statistical y significant.Bisphosphonates reduce ef ectively the recur ence rate of patients with GCT .Because the the sample size of the study is smal , reducing the reliability of the result,in order to obtain more Credible results of clinical trials,large-scale randomized control ed trials of higer quality are needed .关键词
