Research on the Coordinated Control Among Multiple STATCOMs Based on Damping Controllers

Abstract
With the wide applications of flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) technology and devices in power systems, it is very important to investigate the interaction and coordinated control among FACTS controllers.This paper studied the coordinated control method among multiple static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) damping controllers in power systems, and a novel coordinated control design technique based on mesh adaptive direct search (MADS) algorithm was proposed which could ensure the coordinative operation of multiple STATCOMs damping controllers in the same power grid. This method used the frequency domain design idea to ensure the robustness of the multiple controller under different operation schemes, and ensured the coordination of multi-controller running ability on the base of MADS algorithm, and ultimately achieved coordinated operation and control of multiple STATCOM damping controllers. The time domain simulation results validated the conclusion.关键词
