Influences of Cogging Effects on Normal Force Ripple in Permanent Magnet Linear Servo Motors

Abstract
There is the large normal force ripple betweenthe mover and the stator when the single-side flat-platepermanent magnet linear servo motor (PMLSM) is operating,and the friction force perturbation and the vibration of themachine tool caused by the normal force ripple will influencethe accuracy of machine tools greatly. The cogging effect ofPMLSM is one of the important factors that cause the normalforce ripple. Therefore, the normal force analytic expression ofthe infinitely long side tooth PMLSM is derived using theMaxwell tensor method, which reveals the law of the normalforce ripple caused by cogging effects. It can be known byanalyzing the Fourier decomposition coefficients that the toothtip width and the pole arc coefficient are the two main parameters impacting the normal force ripple. Using the Ansoftfinite element software, the law of the normal force ripple isanalyzed under different tooth tip widths and pole arccoefficients. The simulation results demonstrate that the normalforce ripple amplitude caused by the cogging can be effectivelyweakened by optimizing the tooth tip width and the pole arccoefficient. Simulation and analytical results are basicallyconsistent, which demonstrates the validity of the analyticalmethod for the normal force ripple.关键词
