Research on Thrust Ripple of Long Primary Linear Induction Motors With Symmetrical Current Excited

Abstract
Due to the longitudinal end effect, there are ripples in the thrust of the long primary linear induction motor (LIM). The origin of thrust ripple was qualitatively analyzed at first; double power supply frequency ripple and double slip frequency ripple are significant in thrust. By controlling primary currents to be symmetrical, double power supply frequency thrust ripple which is caused by the negative sequence component of primary currents can be eliminated. Based on one-dimension electromagnetic field analysis, derivation methods in the primary and secondary coordinate systems were compared, attentions while performing boundary conditions in the primary coordinate system were highlighted. Then time-harmonic analytical solution of thrust based on the secondary coordinate system was derived, as well as the characteristics of all thrust components vs. slip. Analysis results show that the long primary LIM performs well in the low slip ratio state. The analytical results were validated by experiments carried out with a linear accelerator platform, and the experimental and analytical results match well.关键词
