A Double-Stator Bearingless Switched Reluctance Motor Drive Control System for Flywheel Energy Storage

Abstract
A double-stator type bearingless switched reluctance motor (DSBSRM) for flywheel energy storage system was studied. This DSBSRM consists of two stators with radial force windings placed on the inner stator and main windings placed on the outer stator. After the basic structure characteristics and its driving/generating principles were described, the mathematical model and the control strategy were studied. The suspension function is integrated into this DSBSRM, so the radial magnetic bearing is not needed anymore, which can make this flywheel-energy-storage system more compact. The coupling problem between main windings and radial-force windings can be conquered, so main windings and radial-force windings can be independently controlled, which can simplify the control difficulty. With proper main winding current, DSBSRM can be smoothly switched among different running modes. This motor can operate in electromotion mode when the main winding current is positive. While this motor operates in generation mode, when the main winding current is negative. Finally, FEM and experiment results confirm the feasibility and validity of this proposed method.关键词
