Abstract

Transient enclosure voltage (TEV) in ultra high voltage (UHV) gas insulated switchgear (GIS) has steep rise time of waveform, high amplitude, wide frequency band and other characteristics, these may affect the safety of operating personnel touched with GIS and normal operation of GIS monitoring devices. For these reasons, it is necessary to accurately measure TEV. A method of resistive impedance divider was used to measure TEV, typical waveform characteristics of TEV and basic requirements of TEV measuring were proposed; Based on basic requirements of measuring, TEV measuring device of strong anti- electromagnetic interference was developed, a series of performance tests and electromagnetic compatibility and insulation tests were carried out on the device; Equivalent circuits of measuring device and measuring/grounding shielded cables were established, through simulation and experimental test, these maximum lengths of both shielded cables were respectively defined; Finally, the measuring device was applied to TEV multiple measuring points of a whole process simultaneous measurement in UHV GIS on site, these results show that TEV measuring device met TEV measuring on UHV GIS site. Therefore, TEV waveform characteristics and distribution of different locations on GIS enclosure can be obtained by TEV measuring device, these experimental data are provided for TEV modeling and simulation.
